The 27 movies listed here are my initial picks for the SIFF. I combed through all the movie listings and whittled the mess down to these 27. There are hundreds of others at the [[official website|http://www.siff.net/festival/index.aspx]].
Just because I think the rest are probably crap doesn't mean you will. It turns out that some of the movies I listed here seem to be crap after closer inspection, but maybe I missed a few gems? Go explore. Be artsy. Enlighten yourself. See movies! Just don't tell me about documentaries involving sheep herders, or edgy experimental films where the director leaves the lens cap on the whole time... Ok?

Oooh! Wow! Yes!!! It was the only midnight movie I could see this year, and it was awesome! Once again, Miike put his insanity to great use. From the opening scene with the egg, to the crazy sheriff that wouldn't die, to Tarantino in two roles (well, one actually), to gratuitous chaingun action, to the crazy awesome hot chick that appears out of nowhere. This is what midnight movies at the Egyptian are about! I rated this a 5 out of 5 because even though it could have made more sense, it didn't need to. Miike, you have made up for Izo. Now don't mess up next time! :-)

This was really funny and thoughtful! I never expected to see people acting out my philosophy on life. :-) The characters were excellent, the story was tight, and the comedy was enjoyable but also very real. I gave it a ''5 out of 5'' (which I don't give lightly!), because it entertained me, I connected with it, and it made a lasting impression on me. Quality stuff!
