Not fancy, but reliable and cheap 04/04/2007 As a student in the 1990's, Andy always managed to keep my old Subaru 1988 GL Wagon running for very little cash. I have brought him my newer 1996 Legacy Wagon and he has performed more for less, and did not waste money on things other places said I "needed". I have driven my Subarus hard through forest service roads, creeks and deep snow and none of his repairs ever failed. I have not been there in a few years, but I would take my car to him again in the future. He is not slick, and does not come across like most garages. He is busy and short on conversation, but he seems to do a fair job at a fair price.
Poor and Unsafe Service 11/16/2006 I don't know if Andy thought I woulnd't post this b/c at the time I had IL plates, but I am a Seattle resident and Andy's is a horrible and unsafe mechanic. He seemed nice enough and I was drawn in by other comments, but the guy overcharges. After spending $1000 on new OEM brakes last year, my car never stopped right, continued to screech and grind, and made rattling noises that weren't there before I brought the car to Andy's. I found out through another mechanic that he did not use OEM parts and he left off crucial parts of the brakes that made the car noisy and unsafe! They didn't properly replace the skid plates on the car. This has been a miserable year driving and I would absolutely stay away from Andy's.
Honest and Reliable 09/19/2006 I have gone to Andy's a few times and I am always very happy with the service and more importantly the price. I like to know that my mechanic is looking out for me, and I get the sense that everyone has my best interest in mind at Andy's. Highly reccomended! Andy's Auto Repair 03/20/2006 Andy's Auto Repair was recommended by NPR's weekly "Car Talk" show. The shop specializes in Japanese vehicles, though they service European vehicles as well. Before Andy's I was quite pessimistic about auto repair shops. Recently I took a Subaru Outback to have a tune up there (the car's first in several years) and was thoroughly impressed by Andy's honesty regarding what I should and should not have serviced. Not once did Andy ever pressure me to have something extra replaced or repaired. A tune up cost me less than $400 and his team even meticulously cleaned every door lock of the rust that accumulated from the car's previous life in Boston. They did not charge me anything for this service. Originally, the Subaru dealer told me I would have to replace ALL the locks. Andy's accepts checks or credit cards and can arrange for you to pick up the car after hours. honest and reasonable 03/02/2006 We love our neighborhood mechanic, Andy. He has talked us out of several repairs and has given us many things at cost. He has very high standards. He will fix it very quickly, e.g. while you wait, if he can. We have developed a relationship with him and really trust his honest opinion. He looks out for preventitive care as well. He was recommended to me by a neighbor who has used him for years. BTW - he is NOT affiliated with the Andy's auto in Lynnwood. |
