This site was created to showcase my deliverables for
LIS 545 in the Spring of 2008.
Class description
Spring 2008 LIS 545 Programming for Information Systems focused on client-side web technologies from five aspects:
- The human/design/aesthetic that includes usability and accessibility,
- Architectual protocols such as HTML and XHTML,
- Cross-browser strategies,
- JavaScript and
- Cascading style sheets. We covered Web 2.0 techniques such as AJAX and JSON.
Student learning goals
- Be able to design a web site for a specific types of activities and users.
- Be able to architect a web site and its associated data sources.
- Program interactive elements in a web site.
- Code JavaScript to manage web site functions and external information sources.
- Be able to orchestrate together web structural protocols such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
General method of instruction
Each week included projects to build. Conceptual introduction and programmer's cliches were provided. Students snapped together the legos.
